I went with a friend for appetizers and drinks. While the drinks were nothing special, they were not bad. Our waitress was extremely friendly and very helpful. We ordered hush puppies, crab cakes (they were good) and the wheel house dip, which was awesome. I am a huge fan of hush puppies and order them whenever I get a chance if they are on the menu...unfortunately I was served conch fritters instead. They were very spongy and were not good at all. I made the mistake of not sending them back when I realized the mistake. I don't think I will be visiting this place anytime soon...the only thing this place is good for is the live entertainment they provide during the summer months.

Stay away from this place. Slow service, over-priced food, and food that just isn't up to par. I'm a pretty firm believer you can tell how good a restaurant will be by how their bathroom looks. Their bathroom was about as disgusting as my food/service experience at Billy's. I ordered a caesar salad and their cajun ranch wings. Their wings were not anything special and in fact i'd rather eat wings from pizza hut. I was really hoping they'd get the caesar salad right as I love to eat caesar salads. Their 'homemade' dressing sucks. It took the hostess 10 minutes to realize we were there to seat us. There were two of us that showed up first and waited in the middle of the business looking like idiots as everyone stared at us with no hostess in sight. We waited an hour (probably longer) for 3 plates of oysters, 6 wings, and a caesar salad on a Thursday night with not many people in there. Then our waitress seemed to forget about coming to collect our bill. On a good note if you're going there to get oysters, you're in luck seeing as the 3 other people I was eating with said they enjoyed them somewhat. I'd hate to buy that 20 dollar steak they advertise and have it taste bad.

My friends and I come here a lot when the weather is nice, have been for over 7 years. Unfortunately I think this may be the last time. We come from the West side or Jacksonville to eat $12 qua bushels of oysters and 50¢ wings on Thursday evenings. We got here tonight around 6:00pm and they were completely out of oysters, and apparently no longer sell them by the quarter anymore anyway. Seemed like they reduced the portion size on other stuff too...... Maybe they are under hard times. This is not the way to fix it.

I love Billy's! I just had the waffle with bacon and eggs, and a mimosa, and it was delicious! Kelly, our server/bartender was great as well :) I know I'll be back next Sunday!!

Wow! And I mean wow! After frequenting this place every Sunday afternoon for the entire summer, we stopped this afternoon and witnessed a horrible display. The people atrom the bar and you could tell simply by looking at the drinks that they were just colas. There didn't look to be any alcohol mixed in with the ginger rail or Coke. We heard them ask if their drinks could be remade and the waitress came right back and said the bartender told her that was it there was nothing wrong with the drinks. Mind you, they did not cause a scene or act ugly or anything. One of the gentleman asked for a manager and some rude woman came out with a terrible attitude and claiming to be the manager. Her name was Lindsay and we all heard that and we all got to hear about how she knows how to bartend because she's been doing it for 20 years etc. The gentleman was very kind to her and explained that the drinks simply tasted like they had no alcohol content. And she was very rude. The table got up and left and immediately following we got up and left. We typically spend $150-$200 as a group every Sunday. We will never disestablishment again. I cannot believe that someone in the service industry would speak to a customer like that. I truly hope she was not the manager! The food is not great. The service has always been pretty good. The waitresses have never given us a problem and are always kind. But if that is the management and that is how they are going to treat the people who bring business to their establishment I want nothing to do with the place.

Lindsay, the manager at Billy's one of the worst experiences. We asked for some food and drinks. The drinks came out with hardly any liquor mix. We questioned the drinks and she said take it or leave it. That tells me the place is going down hill. No customer service at all. Now I have been to Billies before but never been treated this way. She has no business being in the service industry. She mentioned that she has been doing this for 20 years, we'll she has been ripping people off for the past for 20 years on drinks unbelievable. That's a Shame since I did like going to Billy's, not any more. I will go to Nippers instead.

A gem for sure. Nothing but great service, beautiful view and tasty food here at Billy's. I like the very laid back atmosphere of this place. I don't have to worry about feeling crowded or raise my voice just to speak to someone next to me. They play some great music and sometimes have beautiful live music. Second time here for brunch and it was exactly what we wanted: Relaxing. I lived the lobster omelette and my date had a very yummy fish and grits. Little tip: Just because the menu days fried, doesn't mean you can't have it blackened or grilled! Everything is cooked to order so just ask! The times we've been here service had been nothing short of spot on. Friendly and timely. My biggest compliant of this place is the bathroom... the worn, boat house look works for the restaurant in a nostalgic way but it is kind of gross and run down when you apply it to the bathroom. Overall, great place for great good, drinks, live music, friendly service and a beautiful view.

Wow! I have been going to Billy's for a few years and this is the first time that I've ever spoken to a manager there. Lindsey does not need to be a manager. She handled a simple situation terribly. If it wasn't for the response to our request, we would have greeted her with a much better attitude. Three of us ordered liquor drinks that tasted only like the mixers. The response was not "we can remake these for you". Instead, the response was "you can buy another shot, otherwise, these are the drinks". For perspective, we had in our group a bartender/manager, a waiter/trainer, and a few people that have ordered the same drinks for a combined total of over 50 years. So, Lindsey came over and immediately gave us her resume of pouring drinks for 20 years. Long story short, Lindsey finally offered to make the drinks again but we advised her that if she was simply going to make the same drinks in the same way, there was no need to waster her time. She walked away in huff just as we did. I truly hope that Lindsey writes her side of the story here so that the readers can make their own decisions about this place. As for me and my group, we won't be back! P.S. If you're wondering wether or not our group was drunk and just being difficult, we were not drunk and had actually skipped over Nipper's because there was no seating and, up until this point, we enjoyed going to Billy's.

Wish I could post zero stars. This place blows. The manager/bartender that I got to speak to (I believe her name was Lindsay) made some weak ass drinks, and when we politely let our server know that there was less than any alcohol in the drinks, she came back to tell us that this "Lindsay" said we can either buy another shot or deal with the drinks we had. I sent my drink back and said,"no thank you then, I do not want this drink and I will not pay for it." This "Lindsay" character came out with some rude ass attitude and refused to fix her drinks, claiming they were poured right. First off, I think I know my own drinks. Second, I'm a bartender, that's not how you deal with things in the service industry. I'll never go to this bankrupt ass, sorry ass restaurant again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT BILLY'S BOATHOUSE

Good little restaurant! We happened upon it last night - nice place with outdoor dining overlooking the marina. Our server was friendly - appeared to be overworked (ie a lot of hustle) but she was spot on with food and drinks. We all got the Mahi special, which was very fresh and delicious. We are very glad we found it and will be back again soon!

I always want to eat here but never had the chance until some friends were going to brunch on Sunday. Obviously, the location is great. You can tell this place has been here a while, but the atmosphere is beachy and cozy and the views of the intracoastal are good. The weather was muggy so we sat inside. They have $3 champagne, mimosas, Bloody Mary's. I was very pleased to hear that they make their own Bloody Mary mix... I really believe not enough places do this (so sick of hearing, "we use zing zang" well yeah I could make that at my house thanks). I tried the Bloody Mary and it was pretty good. I ordered the mimosa, which was pretty good as well. They use good orange juice and don't skimp on the champagne. I don't think they do bottomless, but $3/ea isn't bad. The brunch menu is extensive. Lots of different omelets. It's pretty much everything you would expect for breakfast offerings. More diner style/traditional... not the new/innovative/unique brunch options you'll see at other places. I ordered the "wilson" omelette (cheese and ham). Because it was a little pricier, and the ham was described as "Virginia smoked ham" and the others weren't, I was expecting the ham to be top notch. But when it arrived, it was just basically the cubed ham you would buy at publix. The hash browns were ok (a little soggy). The service isn't anything special (not that you really expect it here). I will probably go again, because I'm curious about lunch or dinner. But so far I think it's just so-so.

What you would expect from a marina restaurant. A casual outdoor atmosphere, with a lot of fish on the menu. The spinach crap wheelhouse dip is excellent! I highly recommend it. Our meals were hit or miss. A little overpriced, but you pay for the novelty of the restaurant. Great place to enjoy the beautiful spring weather, a sunset, some boat views and live music.

Food was great! Ordered the crabby Benedict and the crab cakes were GREAT. Had a screwdriver with my meal and it was above average - solid flavor and good OJ, not to strong as well. The service was terrible however. Our waitress was typically 3-5 minutes behind our empty glasses, (waters and drinks) and the food (four different orders, no customs) took a little over 30 minutes... Really unacceptable for what our party ordered (omlette, (2) crabby Benedict's, and blueberry pancakes).

I hardly ever write bad reviews, but this one is warrented. I had brunch here and from the beginning the staff was rude. The bar tender didn't even look at me when I ordered my drink or when she delivered it to me, the silverware was dirty, and it took us and hour to get our food - we were there for brunch... on a Monday! I gave it a two star because the food was actually good.

Nothing to rave about. Ordered the fried shrimp platter. It was good But the same as anywhere else. Besides the food, the service was good and the atmosphere was fun! Didnt have to wait for a table on Friday night at 6.

Reading all the negative reviews here about the place kind of made me hesitant to come at first, but you have to try it out yourself in order to get the experience. However, I have never gotten that negative experience from Billy's. I've been here several time the past few months and I have had always a great time. I usually come in here during game days where it's $3 mimosas/bloody mary, $.45 wings, and $4 for a dozen of steamed oysters! Very great deal! I noticed the service for food is rather slow, but food tasted great so no complaints there. I didn't wait an hour and half for a meal, more like 30-40 minutes which is normal in my books. The bartender Kelly, she is awesome!

Love this place!!! Great location ,staff is super friendly, and food is really good. My girlfriend and I go on Sundays to hear the live band and eat. They have really good burgers and conch fritters. And good price beers. The place is older and needs a little touch up, but the atmosphere is awesome!!! And everyone is having a good time. All ages!!!

I've eaten a variety of things here on 3 desperate trips. Great views. Dismal food and service. Weakest fried shrimp I've ever had. Very little local seafood. Salmon in Florida?!?! Skip this place.

We went for brunch and had the best crabby eggs benedict I've eaten on the east coast... (seriously, the benedict helped me give that extra star). Mimosa came out in a party cup which seemed a bit odd. At the time, service was ok. But the view..... the view was great. Next time I think we will order that pitcher of mimosa and just chill (along with the staff, who where pretty scarce to find).

Now I have been going to Billy's since there was a Billy's. Billy Sissel comes from a restaurant family and has cooked all his life. He has a long career of successful restaurants, from R P McMuphey's, just plain Billy's and has always served some of the best freshest, and always local seafood. Billy like me are born n raised on the beach so we know seafood and where to get it. One of the biggest and best things is I have been in the kitchen at Billy's and I will say this. It is clean and you don't smell old nasty dead fish like some of the places I have been to. Mostly the Mayport City Favs. Now another thing is you will find Billy himself in the kitchen everyday and most of the time all day. He has a good crew and the food serve shows that. So Now I will retire and stop into Billy's Boat House for a soon to be Famous Blackened Fish Wrap. It might not be on the menu but just ask he will make it.

The atmosphere, view and music are my main reasons for enjoying this place. Love the outside seating!! The mimosas are gooood. The food is pretty good. Service is definitely slow and the hostess while we were there recently was a little to busy on her phone to tell our waitress that she had seated a table for her. Plus, she didn't give us silverware. I enjoy this place because it's a hometown favorite for me. I'll always come back for as long as Billy's is in business which will hopefully be for a LONG time.

Terribly slow food service. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food after ordering & it wasn't even a full house. The food was average when it finally showed up. Poached eggs came out hard boiled. Stick to drinks and enjoy the view, because the kitchen service is dreadful. Stay Far from the entrance and baking dumpsters too!

Recent lunch with friends. Mixed results on the food. Excellent fish sandwich which is good considering their location, but the two that got the shrimp were not so impressed. 6 small shrimp (pun?) didn't quite to the job, the blackening was overpowering and the fried ones were mediocre. If you're there for socializing, I think you'll be very pleased. Great views of the boat basin, good live background music...not too loud to be able to carry on a conversation. Service was mediocre also, but we weren't in a hurry, so no problem. Prices are very reasonable considering the location, but I'd rather pay a bit more and see the place get fixed up a bit. Maybe the worn out theme is intentional? Long story short, worth a try if you want a place with a view. Could they improve a few things, sure, but "bar rescue" hasn't made it to Jax yet.

Not one local beer on tap. Took over an hour to get 1/2 lb of boiled shrimp. The ingredients are water, old bay, and shrimp. I will mot be back.

Pretty bad. The waitress was high on something. Forgot my soup and brought it with my entree ! I sent it back. The fried oysters were like those I have never seen before. I guess we didnt want dessert because the bill appeared before we could even think of it! Pass this restaurant by. Don't waste your time or money.

Before going to Billy's Boat House we knew we would be waiting a while for and open table and that the food service is Very slow. But as long as you go there knowing that, Billy's Boat House is a diamond in the rough! We went for their Sunday Brunch, the place was packed. We were well warned that it would take about an hour to get food. So, we ordered a pitcher of mimosa ($15.00), sat under umbrellas and chatted at a little table overlooking a marina on the intercoastal. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor really gives you the boat house feel. Billy's has alot of character, and we absolutely love character on our dining adventures. They also have live music on Sundays, starting around noon. I believe brunch is only served on Sundays, but it seems to be a weekly Jacksonville tradition for many. The food was excellent. Highly recommend the Crabby Eggs Benedict (eggs benedict over crab cakes) or the shrimp and grits cakes. The breakfast burrito looked excellent as well, and they have pancakes for the kids. So just know the service may be a little rough around the edges and expect long waits (supposedly the owner/manager is the cook for all the food), but you'll be rewarded with a great time at a bar/grille with real character and atmosphere that rivals the Keys.

We went to Billys Boah House for lunch on a Tuesday because Nippers was closed, we docked the boat and all ten of us piled off the dock and into a mostly empty restaurant. Because the place was empty we thought we should get quick service - WRONG! the waitress was nearly useless, she messed up our drink order and brought too many of the same drink, that should have been our first warning! THe food service was incredibly slow, we were in the place almost two hours! We had four children with us, two of them were three years old, the youngest of the kids. The waitress brough all the adults food first and made the kids wait to get their food....anyone whos spent any amount of time with kids knows the kids food should be brought out first. My sisters Quesadilla was burned, the grilled cheese for the kids was burned also. This was a terrible place to eat, We will never go back to this place again!

Horrible service....DO NOT GO ON A Sunday!! WE waited over an hr and a half even though we were told 30 minutes. Still were not seated and then told when we were seated that it would take over an hr to have our food so we left. They were serving 8 tables and they said their kitchen could not handle it.....they need more workers when the weather is nice and when they offer brunch. Waste of a day and totally clueless and unapologetic hostesses and managers!

Reading is fundamental but... If you are a waitress, maybe hold off on the latest installment of Babysitter's Club til your shift is over, ok Miley? Arggghhh.... waited for everything for way too long, while our tween-waitress leisurely read a book in plain sight in the next room. The first time we asked her to tear herself away she apologized, albeit flippantly, but then the next time her services were required, the gloves were off and she barely made eye contact. If you are thinking, wasn't there a manager around? Well we didn't see anyone over the age of 18 in charge. And believe me, we were there for well over an hour, during which time you would think the manager would make an appearance on the Sunday Brunch shift, especially considering the experience/maturity level of the staff. What a shame -- this place has potential as it is right on the water and you can see the boats sailing out to sea... The food was average, if you still care.

This place is terrible. It literally took three hours for my food to come. The food itself wasn't too great so it wasn't worth the wait. Very disappointing

Great brunch place, sat at the bar overlooked the water. Hashbrown casserole was awesome, good specials!

Great; view, service, and food. The ahi was delicious.

DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE!!!!!! IT'S DISGUSTING. This place is plain aweful. The Food and Service are the worst i have ever seen.
